Molly's journey: from cravings to satiety success

From diet struggles to discovering satiety
Before discovering Hava, Molly faced numerous challenges with her weight and health. Like many, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her routine, leading to weight gain and increased stress. As a school teacher, Molly experienced the pressures of balancing work and personal health. Injuries further complicated her journey, making it difficult to stay active and motivated.
Molly’s injuries began when she sprained her ankles while exercising in the pool. Despite healing, she continued to limp, leading to the discovery of a broken foot and subsequent knee injuries. This unfortunate sequence of events limited her mobility, resulting in significant weight gain and inflammation.
Molly had tried various diets over the years, from keto to Weight Watchers, each offering short-term success but ultimately leaving her searching for a sustainable solution.
Her breakthrough came when she stumbled upon Hava on YouTube. Molly shared, “I had known you [Dr. Andreas Eenfeldt] for probably about six years as the Diet Doctor, and when I saw the teaser about a new way of thinking about eating, my world was shook. I knew that someone like you, who was so successful and a leader in the keto world, wouldn’t take this type of risk if you didn’t believe in it.”
Embracing Hava and the satiety approach
Molly’s initial skepticism turned into hope as she began using the Hava app. She appreciated the app’s focus on high-satiety foods, which allowed her to feel full and satisfied without the constant cravings that had plagued her previous dieting attempts. The user-friendly interface and personalized food recommendations made it easier for her to stay on track and achieve her goals.
One of Molly’s most significant victories was overcoming her cravings. By focusing on high-protein foods and balancing her meals according to Hava’s satiety scale, she found herself in control of her eating habits.
“The number that I’m chasing is that protein number. I can have a pretty high-fat day and even consume around 150 grams of carbs some days. But as long as I hit my protein and satiety numbers, I lose weight at a rate I’m happy with,” she explained. The simplicity of meeting a protein number, rather than obsessing over calories, was key in transforming her approach to food.
Molly also found a new mindset with Hava, shifting from a focus on restriction to one of nourishment and fullness. “I used to think dieting meant cutting something out and avoiding it. With Hava, it’s about eating the right foods and not feeling deprived,” she said. This shift empowered her, allowing her to enjoy food while achieving her health goals.
Navigating the satiety scale
Understanding and applying the principles of the satiety scale allowed Molly to find a balance that worked for her. She likened it to a gas pedal, saying, “It’s like a control mechanism. If I stall in my weight loss, I can push towards the blue end to lose more weight, but generally, staying in the green zone works best for me.”
This analogy captures how she uses the scale to fine-tune her eating habits and maintain control over her journey. The satiety scale became an essential tool for Molly. She learned to use it to manage her cravings and weight loss effectively.
Molly shared, “The yellow zone tends to induce my cravings, so I try to avoid it. The green zone is perfect for maintaining satiety without overindulging, and the blue zone, while effective, can cause me to lose too much weight, which I don’t want.”
The results: health, energy, and freedom
In just two and a half months, Molly lost an impressive 22 pounds. But the benefits didn’t stop at weight loss. She noticed a reduction in inflammation, increased energy levels, and an overall sense of well-being. The freedom from restrictive dieting rules allowed her to enjoy food again, making sustainable lifestyle changes rather than temporary fixes.
Reflecting on her journey, Molly said, “I don’t torture myself anymore with, like, I’m such a failure. I just say, no, I’m not. I just was eating the wrong foods every now and then.” This mindset shift was crucial for her sustained success.
Molly’s favorite part of her journey has been the newfound control over her cravings. From enjoying a balanced meal of meatballs and sourdough toast to indulging in popcorn without guilt, she discovered that a high-satiety diet could be both satisfying and flexible. She recalled, “That was my first experience where I’m like, okay, so that shut down my appetite. It shut down food cravings.”
Molly’s message to the Hava community
Molly’s story inspires and reminds us that lasting change is possible with the right tools and mindset. She encourages others to embrace the principles of satiety and trust the process. Her journey is a powerful example of how Hava can help individuals achieve their health goals without sacrificing the joy of eating.
“If, at 61, I can do this at 22 pounds in six weeks and not have that nightmare going on in my head, I don’t need shots, I don’t need pills. All I need is to make sure that just every day, I have to focus on one thing: 90 grams of protein. That is not a big deal,” Molly emphasized.
As Molly looks forward to her retirement and dreams of traveling to Europe, she does so with confidence and vitality. “I want to be able to do stuff, and I can’t do that if I have [too much] weight and inflammation. I’m retiring in four years and want to go to Europe and down to the Great Barrier Reef to do some snorkeling. I want to be able to walk and enjoy my travels,” she explained. Her success with Hava has transformed her body and given her the freedom to live the life she wants.
